Yes. Seacast™ is formulated to bond to fiberglass. It will bond to small amounts of pre-existing wood that may remain after extraction, but the bond to fiberglass will be weakened and the remaining wood will continue to rot.
Can I put metal reinforcements inside before I pour Seacast™ for added strength?
No. With Seacast's™ strength, you will not need reinforcement. Any type of steel or aluminum will expand and contract with temperature changes and affect the integrity of the transom.
Can I pour more Seacast™ if I run out and need to reorder?
Yes. The additional pours will bond as if done in one pour. Additional pours of Seacast™ will not produce a cold seam and will be just as strong as if it was poured at the same time.
Do I have to fix cracks and holes before I pour Seacast™?
Yes. Seacast™ will leak thru any openings in your fiberglass. You can use duct tape (criss-cross) to cover small holes. After Seacast™ sets you have to ensure that the Seacast™ is flush with the inner side of the skin.
It doesn't look like I have a full bucket of Seacast™. The bucket only appears to be half or three quarters full. Also, it appeared to be foamy on top when I opened it. What is up?
Seacast™ separates during shipping - this is normal. When you add the catalyst and fiber to the bucket, you will have a full bucket.
